Common Questions

Various factors motivate individuals to seek math tutoring. Some wish to gain a better understanding of a subject to improve their academic grades or to simplify help solidify comprehension.

The persistent challenges in our educational system are the issues that arise from student to teacher ratio. This ratio should ideally be kept low; however, realizing this ideal is not always practical. The consequence of a high student-to-teacher ratio can dampen the learning environment, leaving students feeling lost during a lecture. You may find this type of situation. Nervous about speaking in a group of people, and hoping that perhaps one of your classmates can help you learn the material only to find that they are also just as confused during the lecture.

Private tutoring can help diffuse these types of situations and help you find confidence in knowing the material. Shifting the learning experience from a lecture hall format to a more casual conversation allows the learner to engage with the subject matter on a more personal level.

Another challenge that people encounter in academia is the issue of the relevance of a course. Perhaps you can remember a time during your education when you asked the question, “When will we ever use this?” but the answer you received left you with more confused. When you study with an expert in a particular field, you are given a unique insight to understand better why particular concepts are necessary to know for a specific degree.

What are the differences and similarities between online and in-person tutoring? Not much. Both tutoring styles can be effectively used by a well-trained professional.
